Nearly October….

Fashion, Portraits

Hello there and how are you today, how is your September going for you, here the weather has been hit and very much miss. As we head into October with the shorter cooler days ( I have to admit I am a Spring/Summer type of person) the beautiful colours will start to emerge and the trees will lose their leaves in preparation for Winter.

Today I want to talk about what I call the 3 C’s, CREATIVITY, COMMUNITY & COMPASSION.

As you know during lockdown I committed myself to new learning as a photographer and to pardon the pun working on developing my style.  I have to admit I do miss my trips to the UK to visit various art galleries and exhibitions, hopefully them days will return where we can all have more freedom to travel.  This hasn’t stopped me though, with so many resources out there on the internet and so many magazines to help influence our styles.  My go to magazines are Vogue ( have you seen the latest September edition with its very powerful front cover) GQ for its excellent photography editorials and a favourite of mine Vanity Fair.  Although I love the classical style of portraiture I have to say that the contemporary style in all the magazines greatly influence me.

Community is so important for us all.  As we are all living in a very different world to last year, I really feel it’s a time to all come together and if you can help one another.  In the photography world community is really important to me to reach out to our fellow photographers/friends and share our knowledge, wisdom or just insight.  No one is in competition right? We are all in this together.  Let’s just be kinder as the world needs this right now.

Compassion in everything you do, if it ignites the fire in your stomach then just bloody do it.  No one has the right to dampen your passion, steal your dreams or just be negative.  Speaking from experience this is all down to peoples insecurities and their inability to share the same vision as you.  Over time you will learn as to what is right for you and what isn’t.

Photography for me is such a wonderful and dare I use the world ‘journey’  I get to meet the most amazing people, learn about their lives with the opportunity to create timeless beautiful images.  Nothing has brought me more joy than the opportunity to tap into my creativity and watch it all unfold in front of me.

Since our lockdown restrictions have eased I have been very busy in the studio creating so truly magical images. I can’t wait to share some of the images with you very soon. Throughout the blog are some images of Liam Rice from a recent shoot.

Thank you for reading, I didn’t really know what to write about today but this just came to mind, there is a reason for this blog.
