Before ‘lockdown’ I had the brainwave of working with some local businesses here on the Isle of Man. We are now happy to say that ‘lockdown’ is now over although our borders remain closed. It is time to focus on local traders and support them as much as we can, yes we are all guilty and tend to visit online retailers.
Last week I had the pleasure of a brand shoot with Gemma & Zoe from Rehab Squared in Douglas. Partners in business and life, they have an amazing store filled so many delights for the home.
Rehab Squared is approaching its four year anniversary in its Duke Street store. Business owners Gemma and Zoe strive to keep their offering on the Island unique, sourcing homeware products and gifts during their trips to America and Europe.
The shop provides an intriguing mix of antique, new and up-cycled furniture and interior accessories. They also sell a selection of Manx-themed ranges including candles and artworks which the girls plan to ramp up over the coming years.
Gemma and Zoe reopened after a two-month lock-down and though they will miss this year’s Summer tourist trade, they have been grateful for the local community’s support. The pandemic has prompted them to take the business online, so the first Rehab Squared web shop will launch soon.
In an office at the back of the shop, the girls run an interior design service for commercial clients. It’s been a busy few years and there are some interesting projects coming up over the coming months – certainly enough to keep them out of trouble!
