What to wear for your Isle of Man Outdoor Shoot with Jason Kinrade

It has been a while since my last blog post so today I am going to talk to you about what to wear and what colours to consider as well!

Spring is truly a wonderful time of the year for a photoshoot.  The days are longer and so much warmer, trees are starting to gain their leaves once more and flowers are starting to sprout all around us, not to mention the beautiful sight of blossom too!

I often get asked, ‘what should we wear to our photoshoot?’ You all want to look your best for your shoot which will also result in the beautiful photographs you will be able to order afterwards.

What colours are in fashion this year?

Apparently green is the new hot colour for this Spring with some emphasis on a vivid palette.  Any shade of green will be suitable however try to avoid all looking like Shrek!!!!  Green is a great versatile colour and mixes well with denim blues, navy, neutrals and if you want to add more splash of colour then why not mix this with some pink!

Clothing ideas for an Outdoor Photography Shoot on the Isle of Man

So here are my top tips on what to wear for your outdoor shoot with me Jason Kinrade Isle of Man Portrait Photographer.

Niarbyl Beach on the Isle of Man
  • Avoid logos or slogans on clothing, a simple ‘polo rider’ if your thing is Ralph Lauren is absolutely fine, just avoid anything that is right in your face as it will be distracting on the finished images
  • Think layers and textures, layers are not only great at keeping you warm, but also will add a variety of clothing to the shoot.  Think lightweight too, the more you have the more the choice in my book!
  • Does your clothing fit well, this is your opportunity to completely shine for your shoot and its always best to comfortable in what you are wearing as this will show and give your more confidence.
  • Think about the colours you are all going to wear, you all want to look co-ordinated with various shades of the colours you want to wear.  An ideal choice is 3-4 colours.
  • Dress for the weather and the environment, there is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing.  So if you are at the beach and the sun is shining thing shorts, t-shirts without any footwear.  If you are in a forest, then think layers with boots etc.

Think about 3 -4 colours that will complement.  The aim for you is to look like a family but not wearing matching colours or outfits, try and keep it as simple as possible.

Neutrals are lovely to wear during spring and avoid bright blocks of colour and black as well.

Layers will keep you warm and will add a versatile element to your family shoot.  Co-ordinate your layers too, t-shirts are great to wear under shirts, cardigans and lightweight knitwear, the more colours you have the great the versatility you will have during the shoot.

Soft colours are very popular this time of the year, soft pink is great for both ladies and men and why not mix this with some baby blue both look great together.
